Louise Bennett

Cornwall

I live and work in Penwith, painting when I can and where I can.  I enjoy working independently and with friends, embarking on different art adventures, depending on the seasons, the weather, the light and sometimes the darkness.  I'm interested in extending my art experiences and taking pleasure in the process of response to different challenges and environments.

The Consequences project was an interesting response exercise:  The documentation of the canvas at various stages helped me to detach a little from previous artistic intentions, which thus became embedded and sometimes buried under the paint.  I usually find myself working quite figuratively and so it was refreshing to reply spontaneously in a different way.  I worked to preserve elements or footprints of different voices and create space for future interventions.  My place in the 'order' of the project seemed to govern these actions.
