"Exquisite Corpse" Film screening and discussion with artist and film maker Rachel Cornish.

12th September 14.00 - 16.00 Exchange Gallery Penzance

To accompany the Game of Consequences exhibition we have invited artist and film maker Rachel Cornish to screen her film project and discuss the processes and issues arising from such a collaborative venture.

In 2004 Rachel Cornish put out an open call for artists working with moving image to join her in a film version of the Surrealist’s game Exquisite Corpse.

Nine different sequences began with nine artists making a short video.
Changing hands each time, a 2nd, 3rd and 4th video were made, each in response to whatever preceded it. The result is a show reel of 9 video collaborations.
Cornish says, ‘Upon examining the nature of conscious experience the enormous impact of culture and society is evidently inseparable from this experience. All creativity is "inspired by” and "inspires” in some way. Exquisite Corpse is a direct exploration of this.’

The participating artists are:
Charlotte Bernstein
Eileen Bonner
Rachel Cornish (Project Co-ordinator)
Rachel Dobbs
Sally Irvine
Liliana Lopez
Stormsmith Nomi
Fritz Stolberg
Teresa Whiting

This event is free of charge, but donations are invited. Refreshments will be available in the gallery café.
